Tis the Season for Pumpkins!

Love pumpkin flavored goodies!!!!! Holiday season must almost be here!!!!

Last weekend, tried the Pumpkin Smash Jamba Juice. SERIOUSLY holiday in a cup!!

My uncle went on a trip the other week and brought back Ghiradelli squares. Tried this Pumpkin Spice chocolate and it was seriously DELICIOUS.

This past weekend bought me the Philadelphia Pumpkin Spice Cream Cheese. But now that I have a recipe to follow, I'll be making this year round!!!

And can't forget Noah.... (here he is at a pumpkin patch this past weekend)
... he loves pumpkins too!!!!

Speaking of my little guy, he turns 7 months old today!!!! The past week has been rather eventful, with him pulling himself up to a stand and has even begun CRAWLING!! (Note to self mama, babyproof the house ASAP!!) He hates being locked up in the baby jail I bought for him and looks at me with his sad eyes. Poor guy!! Been eating rice cereal for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, so will probably be introducing baby food to him really soon. Ahhh so much going on!!!!! :)

Crockpot Obsessed

Helloooooooooo October!!

Can I just say how much I LOVE October?? It seems to be the official kickoff to the holiday season!! First comes Halloween, then Thanksgiving, and then Christmas!! Love Christmas. Seriously. L.O.V.E.

October also marks the beginning of PUMPKIN recipes!!! Love baking pumpkin ANYTHING. Bread. Pie. Bars. Crunch. I'll try pumpkin anything. Gotta admit.... I just wiped drool from my face! :-P

So I'm completely obsessed with my crockpot now. Best kitchen invention ever. Minus the KitchenAid mixer. Whoever invented these things are geniuses!!! Made two crockpot meals within the past few days and I'll definitely be making them again.

First were these ranch pork chops. Delish. And only used 3 ingredients. No need to prep anything. Just mix and press a button!! Easy peasy. There looked like there was extra sauce, so I even threw in a couple of chicken breasts I had in the fridge, and those worked just fine too. Might want to butterfly them next time thought since it was a little dry in the middle. Minor though. Hubby loved this too!

Next were these pulled BBQ chicken sandwiches. A little more complicated than my first meal, but STILL super easy. Put the chicken in some sweet bread rolls and you've got a winner!!

I wish I was creative enough and had the time to make my own recipes, but those will come with time I guess... something I don't really have much of nowadays. Little dude turned 6 months last week! (Height and head circumference is in the 75th percentile and his weight is in the 5th.) Had 4 shots on Saturday... my poor guy! But took them like a trooper. Cried while getting them, but after I picked him up, he was all better. :) He's definitely proving to be a mama's boy! Lucky me..... :)

So excited for the holidays... Noah's first time for all this!! He's already been introduced to Christmas music... my iPod's been rocking it for at least a month already! Can't wait for it all. Seriously so excited! :)

Bread Pudding

Drool. Need I say more??? Used sweet bread and loved it!!

Before I made this, I could probably count on two hands how many times I've eaten bread pudding. Always thought it was super difficult to make, so I didn't even bother looking at a recipe. But now that I've made this twice, I'm in love!

Breaking Dawn

Okay so I need to admit.... I'm a huge Twilight junkie. I've read all the books... twice. Have all the movies. Bought all the movie guides. I definitely don't like the movies for the acting (can you say horrible??). Don't know what it is..... maybe that forever love??? All that ridiculous drama? Team Edward vs. Team Jacob?? Whatever the case, I'm BEYOND excited for the final installment to come out in a couple of months (not to mention relieved that I won't have to wait for another movie to come out). While I'll wait a couple of weeks to avoid the teenage craziness, I'll definitely go pay to see the movie in the theater (which is an extremely RARE occurrence these days). Troy's not really a big fan, but I seem to have got my sister hooked on it!

But sadly, this will be the second year in a row I can't enjoy the caffeine drink of the year! Boo to being preggo and then breastfeeding!!

Guess I don't have to wait for the holidays anymore....... HOMEMADE PUMPKIN SPICE LATTE!!!!

Love is ALL around!

My cousin (well, technically my mom's cousin) at My Healthy 'Ohana posted about a blog post she read that lists "100 Ways You Know You're a Mom." Can I just say that I'm totally in love with this list?? A lot of giggles and MMHMMs have been coming out of my mouth while reading this. Here are some of my faves... I'll try not to list them all! :)

2. A trip to the grocery store alone is your idea of a spontaneous getaway. (But then poor hubby needs to watch baby.)
12. Lugging the baby carrier is your idea of a workout.
15. You can’t remember the last time you ate a meal while it was still hot.
26. You have an entire Pinterest board full of crafts you will never get around to actually doing. (This actually makes me sad. I really would love to actually do a few of them!!)
68. You couldn’t watch the Olympics without wondering if that might be your kids one day. (Troy said that Noah's going to be the next Michael Phelps. I'm not complaining.)
77. Cutting a tiny person’s finger nails terrifies you. (I made Noah bleed once and I'm so scared to do it again!)
and the best one....
100. You love deeper than today and further than tomorrow.

Life has been insanely insane lately. Hubby's brother got married over the weekend, so the past few weekends have been crazy busy with the bridal shower, bachelorette party, rehearsal, and of course, the big day. Troy and I were both in the wedding party, so making sure Noah was good with his grandma was added stress. Just had to make sure she had everything he needed!! Good thing this past weekend was a 3-day weekend... allowed us to recover a bit. Such a perfect day!!

Congratulations Jesse, Jenelle, and baby Ariana!!!!

A friend shared Finding Joy's post and I can't help but relate 100% with her. All I can say is le sigh.... I miss having all the free time in the world!! Even to do laundry and dishes!!! If only my friends without kids could TRULY understand how crazy things get. Oh those were the days..... Don't get me wrong, I LOVE having Noah in my life, but someone really needs to figure out how to make more hours in a day. Now THAT would be the ultimate invention!!

Crockpot Lasagna

My friend gifted us a crockpot as a housewarming gift almost a year ago, and sadly it's been sitting in the closet the entire time. I've been wanting to use it for MONTHS, but just haven't had the time to figure out what to make. But thanks to Pinterest, life just got easier. Here it is...... crockpot lasagna!! SUPER easy. Ground your meat, layer it up, and it's good to go! Definitely gonna make this one again!

I used ground chicken instead of ground beef and I substituted ricotta cheese for the cottage cheese. Since my hubby loves meat, I think next time I'll have to add more to this mix... seemed a little skimpy.

This has definitely inspired me to use my crockpot more. TOO SIMPLE NOT TO!

5 months!

Happy 5 months to my little boy!!! (Okay, so this picture was taken a few days ago, but he just looks too darn happy.) He LOVES LOVES LOVES to put everything in his mouth now and gets pretty POed when it doesn't fit. It's pretty hilarious actually. Hubby and I are starting to really enjoy things as we've kinda figured things out. And this whole crying it out at night this seems to be working.... hopefully. Can never tell with this guy! Been lucky enough to catch up on a few Zzzz's this week.

Took Noah to the beach last weekend for the first time and he LOVED it! Troy and I thought that Noah would be fussy since the water was cold, but he did great!! Took him to Kaiona Beach in Waimanalo... the beach where his Tutu Lady (Troy's mom) went a lot growing up and where she was scattered. She would've turned 50 on Monday, so we just wanted to show Noah what a special place it is. Miss her. Wish she could've met Noah.

Recalled Bumbo

This morning I was sent this article that informs Bumbo seat users of a recall. At this point, I'm shaking in my pants since we own a couple of them, thinking that there is something legitimately wrong with the seat. But really.... after reading it, it's just a recall to cover their butts because there are parents that just can't do what they're supposed to do... WATCH YOUR KIDS. Yeah okay, falling out of a chair can cause skull fractures... DUH. Does that mean we need straps on every single chair that exists?? A grown adult can fall out of a chair and crack his/her head.... should they sue?? This is just as ridiculous as the McDonald's hot coffee lawsuit. I mean, REALLY?!?!?! Shouldn't it be the parents' fault for leaving their child in the chair unattended? Would the restraint strap even work?? Wouldn't the whole chair just topple over?? These seats are NOT heavy and any child would be able to tip it over. *sigh* What the heck.....

Lute Pride & Throwback Thursday

Okay, so I went to this small University in Tacoma, Washington, for my four wonderful college years. But as small as it is, I seriously had the best time of my life!! Not to mention, I got to meet great friends and my future husband!! Pacific Lutheran University.... ever heard of it? Didn't think so. No worries. According to Forbes' Top Colleges, PLU isn't the bottom of the Washington state schools. So I'm okay with it. :)

PLU has a Summer Photo Contest for people to show off Lute pride. (Yeah, I could get into the whole thing about "what's a Lute?" but that'll have to come later.) So a bunch of my Lute friends and I got together to show off our Lute gear in front of Waiola's. What do you think?

We really miss the Washington snow but make do in Hawai'i with Shave Ice!
Noah even made it to the picture!! I love my friend's caption.... creative, no??? Love it. Here's a few more pictures from the weekend.... all Lute related.
Noah loves his Aunty Wai!
GREAT picture. Love seeing people trying to make Noah smile. :)
Now onto Throwback Thursday.... figured might as well include my PLU friends! This takes us back to Easter 2006 (aww.... missing Lars!!). Do we look the same??

Aren't these just adorbs?? Gosh I really wish I had the time to bake!!

Throwback Thursday

It's that time of the week again... and to celebrate my friend Tiffany's birthday today, gotta make sure she's in the picture. So let's take it back to.... 9th grade??? 10th grade?? Gosh, I don't even remember. May I present the ladies of the lunch bunch. :)

It's amazing how long high school was... 10 year reunion coming up next year! If I knew then what I know now, I would've done things and acted WAY differently. I definitely know that I've grown up a lot since high school. But as long ago as it was, it's nice to know that some things change and some don't. I treasure the friendships I had from high school and I am blessed to still have some of those relationships. I am definitely lucky enough to have met a great bunch in college too, and that just makes life that much sweeter.

And to quote the great John Lennon...
I get by with a little help from my friends.

Miso Salmon

Want a super easy recipe that has only 5 ingredients, takes <5 minutes to prep, and only 10 minutes to cook?? Then look no further!!!! May I present, miso salmon!!! All you need is salmon fillet, brown sugar, shoyu, miso, and hot water. Pop that thing in the broiler for 10 minutes and voilĂ !! The recipe calls for a butter sauce, but it tastes good without it.... and makes it healthier! This has definitely been my go-to recipe for the past couple of months just cause it's so easy and I don't really have the time to make complex dishes.

Bon appetit!!

London 2012

"LONDON BABY!!!!!" (Friends reference anyone???? Love that show.)

Can't wait to watch the Olympics this year. I love the summer games.... love gymnastics and volleyball mostly. And with it being in London.... it's really gonna make me want to visit there even more!!! Hope my DVR doesn't max out. Ahhh with such a busy weekend coming up and still having to deal with Noah, I hope I have the time to watch.

Maybe I'll just have to make these pancakes....

What's your favorite summer games sport? Do you like the summer games more than the winter sports?

Throwback Thursday

This is Noah at 8 days old. I know it was only less than 4 months ago, but look how small he is!! Throwback for me!! Can you tell I have NO idea how to hold a baby???

Happily Eva Afta

Troy and I took his 9-year-old cousin to see "Happily Eva Afta," the final installment of Lisa Matsumoto's "Once Upon One Time" trilogy. Troy and I were actually lucky enough to see all three of them throughout the years and they are such a joy to watch!! I wish they would film these and turn them into DVDs because they are absolutely hilarious... and family friendly!! You would definitely need to live in Hawaii to understand the comedy since the whole thing is in pidgin and there are references to things only people in Hawaii would understand. But she takes classic fairy tales and puts her own local spin to them.  You meet characters like Da Six Menehune (above), Da Tree Fairies, Da Wicked Queen, Da Filipino Shoe Makers, and Da Hagemogi Fairy (above). Can't go wrong... SERIOUSLY.

And I'm loving this one just because things have been so crazy lately...

Scrapbooking & Card Making

My sister has always been a scrapbooker and I've always told her she's nuts for spending so much time and money making her pages and books. I must admit though... with all the time she spends making ONE page, they come out super nice. My sister-in-law is a Stampin' Up demonstrator and she's the one who actually got me hooked/addicted to card making and scrapbooking. I bought a whole bunch of things from her one time and figured since I bought it all, might as well use it. So I would just make cards from time to time... nothing serious. I definitely was ambitious though. Things escalated when I bought a Cricut for myself a few Black Fridays ago (never ever going to Walmart on Black Friday again.... I was seriously scared for my life!!!!). So now, I scrapbook and make cards when I can. Started my scrapbooking with my wedding and have been documenting things ever since! Oddly enough, I love getting the chance to do it and I wish I had more time to do it. With Noah around, I definitely have limited moments when I can scrapbook just ONE page. I'm almost caught up with things... just need to do my pregnancy and things in 2012!! Okay so I'm 6 months behind, but my sister is still scrapbooking things from 2009!! Makes me feel better. :)

Troy's cousin's 9th birthday was last week and had a party this weekend. So I whipped up this card in 15 minutes. Not too shabby if I may say so myself.... haha nah I know it's pretty simple. Wish I had more of a creative mind though. Oh well, practice makes perfect permanent!!

Can't wait until Noah gets a little older and hopefully I'll have more time to use ALL the things I've bought!!! (It's actually pretty insane how much stuff I've accumulated... papers, stamps, stamp pad colors, brads, stickers, etc.)

10 points to who can guess what friggatriskaidekaphobia is...... fear of (blank)...

(Jeopardy song playing....)

Okay time's up.

Any good guesses?

C'mon now...

Answer is.....

Fear of Friday the 13th! For some odd reason, I wikipedia'd it. How odd, yes I know.

To all the moms, expectant moms, or anyone who wants/needs to buy baby/children clothes, toys, games, decorations, etc. out there.... DEAL ALERT!
I've gotten so sucked into zulily. They have such cute stuff and the prices are pretty decent. But of course since I live in Hawaii, shipping ain't that great. EXCEPT that you get free shipping for a couple of days once you put in your first order. So of course I've purchased some totally unnecessary things, but just couldn't resist!! Click on this link for an invite. The deals only go on for a few days (sometimes even one) and there's limited quantities, so gotta act fast!

Any friggatriskaidekaphobia victims out there?

3 month well

Noah had his 3 month well check yesterday and here's his stats:
Weight: 12 pounds, 15 ounces (50th percentile)
Height: 24 3/4" (80th percentile)
Head Circumference: 43 cm (85th percentile)

Even with his big fat head, Noah's loving turning over onto his stomach. Also lifts his head pretty high for some tummy time. Loves to talk story, especially with his Aunty Terri. Starting to grab a lot of things, hair included (gotta make sure to keep mine tied up.... don't need Noah to pull out my hair... he's been giving me reasons to do that to myself!!). He's also pretty awesome at fighting his sleep, which makes Troy and I go crazy, especially at night. I've been lucky enough to take him into work with me. It truly is a blessing, I know, but sometimes it's just so hard to do my work and pay attention to a baby. And I try to make sure he doesn't make too much noise so it doesn't bother my coworkers. Again, blessing, yes I know, but sometimes it's just so effing hard. Been trying to figure out if we should get a babysitter for him maybe twice a week. That'd make things a little easier.

Yesterday, attended 'Iolani's Grooves and Grindz event where they had live entertainment and several food trucks. Music was great (Noah loves music... gonna be a musician like his daddy perhaps?). Food was onolicious. (Koi Catering's garlic ahi was amazeballs.) The company was fantastic (one of my best friends just moved home from Cali... stoked!!). My cousin and her friend had a cupcake/dessert truck there. You should check them out on their facebook page... The Girls Who Bake Next Door.

All in all, such a great weekend!!

Cookies & Cream Cookies

Because my friends and I love Pinterest so much, we've had a couple of Pinterest parties.... aka make food from recipes we found on Pinterest. Basically, we love food so much that we make a pretty darn good excuse to get together and eat. Who's gonna complain about that, right??? So anyways, one of my friends made these cookies and cream cookies and they are seriously TO DIE FOR. I am SO in love with them. I've made them a couple of times for my family (we have Sunday dinner at my grandma's house and I usually make desserts every week) and they go head over heals for them! Pure heaven.

Don't they look great? If you said no, I promise they taste better than they look. Just as long as you like white chocolate and Oreos. :)

I wish I had done something like this. Oh well.... next time??? Pshyeah right!

3 months!

Well if you can believe it, my boy turned 3 months old yesterday! As much as I would love to say that time went by quickly, I can't. He's been quite a handful the past 3 months and has definitely proved himself to be a master cry baby. I mean, it's definitely gotten better since those first few weeks, but I think I'm only beginning to see the light at the end of the tunnel. And with teething coming up shortly, things don't look like they're going to improve anytime soon. Boy, oh boy. And add onto the fact that I'm now dealing with mastitis, things have been just LOVELY. (Yep, had to pay a visit to the ER since my OB didn't have any appointments until tomorrow, which was 4 days later... couldn't wait that long since I had body aches, fever, headaches, and was so sore that I couldn't even carry my son!)

Other than the emotional side of being a mom, watching Noah grow has been great. Slept through the night a couple of times this week (cheers to the freakin' weekend!), so let's hope that's the start of something great.... SLEEP FOR MOM AND DAD!! :) Been taking monthly pictures of the little guy and hopefully I can keep up with it. You can check them out HERE. Looks like he's losing weight... no??

Today also happens to be Leon Day!! (Leon is Noel spelt backwards and marks the halfway point to Christmas.) Troy and I LOVE Christmas (and Christmas music) and can't wait for Noah to celebrate his first! No more presents for Troy and I, but that's okay! We've got the best present already!

Father's Day

Happy first Father's Day to my wonderful husband!! Spent the morning/early afternoon with his family and went out to dinner with mine. Can you tell Noah's having a grand ol' time?? Troy's so great with Noah... just can't help but smile! :)

Made this card for Troy from Noah. I told Troy that I can make this card for every Father's Day and we can see how big Noah's hands get. Thank you Pinterest!! haha.

Proposal Video

I definitely have no reason to complain about how I was proposed to (and I'm not, REALLY!!), but Troy showed me this last week since it was on someone's facebook. Pretty clever I must say!!!! A+ dude... A FREAKING PLUS!!

Tuesday, June 12, 2012

Can I just say that I'm in love with Pinterest? I definitely don't have a creative mind, so it's nice to see what everyone else comes up with. I love baking and cooking, but rarely have time to do everything I want to. I have a bookshelf full of recipe books and I'd LOVE to go through them all and pick and try out my faves. But sadly there aren't enough hours in the day, so it just collects dust (and the spines have now begun to fade since it gets hit by the sun every afternoon).

One thing though.... who has time/patience to paint their nails like that?!?!?!?!

Follow me!

Sunday, May 27, 2012

Hello there!

Hello blogging world!! I've got to say... life's been pretty good to me (graduated from high school and college, have amazing family and friends, met and married the love of my life, got a roof over my head, am lucky enough to buy a few wants in life in addition to the needs, etc.). Of course, there's been some down moments, but I know I'm fortunate to have what I have and I definitely don't wish to take advantage of that. I recently became a new mom (another thing to add to the list of fortunates), so here goes the journey of mommyhood!!

Noah was born on March 24, 2012, which happened to be his due date (right on, dude!)! The labor itself wasn't TOO bad I guess. Progressed extremely quickly. So I think if the nurses had checked me before giving me the epidural, don't think I would've been able to get it. Oh well! That drug is a miracle... seriously. I give ANYONE credit who can go through childbirth naturally. They must have an extremely high threshold for pain. Not I said the fly! The next two days in the hospital were definitely a blur, but coming home with baby in tow was definitely a new experience! I know people say that you lose a lot of sleep once you have a baby, but MAN ALMIGHTY. And my body is weird, so if I nap during the day, then I struggle to fall asleep at night.

There's a post on Pregnant Chicken, and it's SO freaking hilarious and SO FREAKING TRUE!! Anyone who's pregnant, thinking of getting pregnant, or went through childbirth should seriously read it. Thoughts??

Also had to share another post from another mommy blog. Thinking of getting pregnant?? Wish I read this article before I got pregnant. That list at the end of the article is so true that all I can do now is laugh in agreement.

We'll see how this journey of being a mom goes. It can only get better, right??
